Loqma لقمة — Privacy Policy

Effective 4 September 2026 · Volta (TRAAC), Cairo, Egypt · app.loqma.mobile · العربية

1 · Who operates Loqma

Loqma is published and operated by Volta (TRAAC), Cairo, Egypt ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].

This policy covers the Loqma mobile application (iOS and Android, bundle identifier app.loqma.mobile), the Loqma dietitian console, and the service both of them talk to.

2 · What Loqma is

Loqma plans Egyptian meals against a real weekly grocery budget, from a database of local dishes, local portions and observed Cairo prices. It is used two ways: by a person on their own, and by a person whose dietitian put them on her roster. In the second case the dietitian can see that person's plan, weights and adherence — that is the point of the arrangement, and the app says so on the screen where you join a dietitian.

Loqma is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. It is a planning tool. It does not diagnose, treat or monitor any disease. If you are pregnant, diabetic, on dialysis, recovering from an eating disorder, or under treatment for any condition affected by food, follow your doctor and not this app.

3 · Health data — the sensitive part, stated first

Some of what Loqma holds is data concerning health under Egyptian Law 151 of 2018 and its equivalents: your body measurements, your goal, your activity level and what you eat. We treat all of it as sensitive:

4 · What the app collects

WhatWhyKept
Mobile number, a one-way hash of your password, and your language To sign you in and to show the app in Arabic or EnglishWhile the account is active
Date of birth, sex, height, activity level, goal, household size These five figures are what a calorie and macronutrient target is calculated from. Without them the plan is a guessWhile the account is active
Weekly grocery budget in Egyptian poundsThe constraint the plan is built against — this is the feature the product exists forWhile the account is active
Weight and waist measurements, with the date each was taken To show change over time and to let a dietitian adjust the plan While the account is active
What you logged eating: the dish, the portion, the quantity, the calories and the timeAdherence. A plan nobody follows is worth nothing, and the log is how both of you can see itWhile the account is active
Your plans: the calorie target, the macronutrient split, the budget, each meal, and its costThe plan itself, and the grocery basket built from itWhile the account is active
If you join a dietitian: which dietitian, and the fee payments she records against you — amount in pounds, method, date and her note So both of you have one honest ledger of what has been paid Seven years, as commercial records
For a dietitian account: display name, stated professional credentials, and whether we have verified themSo a client can see who is advising herWhile the account is active
An offline outbox on your own device, holding a log entry until the network takes itSo a meal logged with no signal is not lost, and a retried entry is stored once and not twiceOn your device only, cleared when it syncs

5 · Money

Loqma does not process card payments and never sees a card number. There is no in-app checkout. What the app holds is a record a dietitian types in after money reached her another way — the amount in pounds, the method (InstaPay, Vodafone Cash, cash, or bank transfer), the date and an optional note. That record is a receipt, not a transaction.

If card checkout is added later it will be operated by Paymob, the payment processor, on its own systems: card details would be entered on Paymob's page and would never reach us, and we would hold only the amount, the reference and whether it succeeded. This policy will be updated and published before any such feature is switched on.

6 · What Loqma does not collect

7 · Legal basis

Under Egyptian Law 151 of 2018 on the Protection of Personal Data:

8 · Who else sees it

Grocery prices in the app are reference prices collected by us, each shown with the date it was taken. They are not personal data and they are not linked to you.

9 · Seeing, exporting and deleting your data

10 · How it is protected

If a breach affects health data we notify the affected people directly, and the Egyptian authority where the law requires it, without undue delay.

11 · Safety

Loqma refuses to generate a plan below a safe calorie floor and will not chase a goal weight it considers unsafe for your height and age, whoever asks. That refusal is a feature and it cannot be turned off. If you are in treatment for an eating disorder, use this app only with your clinician's agreement.

12 · Children

Loqma is for adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 18. Diet planning for a child is a clinical matter for a paediatrician, not for a consumer app. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we will delete it.

13 · How to reach us

Questions about this policy, a request to see, correct, export or delete your data, or a complaint about how Loqma handles it — write to [email protected] and put the word Loqma in the subject line. We answer within thirty days.

Postal and in-person contact: Volta (TRAAC), Cairo, Egypt.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Centre established under Law 151 of 2018.

14 · Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, why we collect it, or who we share it with, we publish the new version at this address and change the effective date at the top. A change that materially widens what we collect is announced inside the app before it takes effect, and — where the law requires consent — asked for rather than assumed. This page is the whole policy; there is no second document.
